iPhone Not Charging through USB Cable on Computer
SenseiPhone.com provides some advices for those who’ve been getting this problem and never resolved it.
- Make sure that you have a good working USB cable. Trying several USB cables may help you to determine if the problem is on your USB cable or something else.
- Sometimes a good looking USB cable doesnt guarantee that it’ll work as you expect. Try clean the end of the cable for dust, which merely prevent your iPhone being charged from the computer though it may work on wall charger, but it could be stopped working when you use it through USB cable on the computer.
- Clean the dock connector with a dry, soft bristle brush then try again.
- Clean the USB port on the computer.
- Try different USB ports on the computer. A computer mostly have more than one USB ports, so you may try each available port.
- Some computers intended to have USB port disabled for being used. In this case, find out the one which is not disabled or find other computers to charge the iPhone instead.
- Connect the cable directly to the computer. Some people use USB hub for additional USB ports. However, the USB power sometimes divided through all the USB port and your iPhone charging requirement isn’t fulfiled.
- Try to reboot both iPhone and the computer.
- Remove the SIM card from the iPhone and retry.
- Try to hard reboot the iPhone. Plug in cable, Hold Power & Home until you see the Apple logo, then release the button and let is restart and see if it’s star charing through USB.
- In the worst case scenario, you may need to uninstall and then re-install iTunes software on your computer. That’s a pain but definitely worth to try.
- Oh wait, the last one, I promise. Try to restore the iOS software through iTunes. Don’t forget to create the backup in the first place!
If none of mentioned tips above works, it’s the time to get it fixed or you may contact Apple for replacement.
