I got an used iPhone 3G yesterday and want to install the facebook app, but the iPhone 3G doesn’t support the new Facebook app version 5.0. How can I install the app?
The latest facebook version will not work on iPhone 3G iOS 4.2.1. You will need to install facebook 4.0.1.

So, you will need earlier version of Facebook app. Facebook apps version 4.0.1 is compatible with iOS 4.2.1 and older versions.
