redsn0w.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Some of you may currently stuck on “redsn0w stopped working” or “redsn0w.exe encountered a problem” while jailbreaking iPhone|iPod Touch|iPad on Windows computer. It happens merely on Windows 7 and Windows Vista, though some Windows XP users may also face the same problem.

Such error message doesn’t mean that you’re unable to jailbreak your iDevices, or the jailbreak doesn’t work for your devices. It happens due to Windows compatibility problem, not the redsn0w itself.
So, here is some tips to fix redsn0w.exe has stopped working (on Windows 7 & Windows Vista) / fix redsn0w.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close (on Windows XP)
- Extract redsn0w.exe first, do not open redsn0w.exe from the inside of archive program (such as: Windows Compressor, WinZip, or Winrar). Once redsn0w.exe extracted, then you can run it inside the folder (not archive program)
- Make sure that you are running redsn0w.exe in compatibility mode for earlier Windows version (Read: How-to set redsn0w compatibility mode). If you are running Windows 7 / Windows Vista, set its compatibility mode to Windows XP (latest service pack). But, if you are running Windows XP, set its compatibility mode to Windows 95 instead.
- Run redsn0w.exe with administrator priviledge / using Administrator account. (Read: How-to Run redsn0w as Administrator on Windows)
