Follow the guide below to install .deb file on iPhone. This guide can be done on any iOS version, whether it’s iOS 3.x, iOS 4.x, iOS 5 or even iOS 6, as long as your iOS has been jailbroken, you can do this.

Install .deb file guide on iPhone|iPad|iPodTouch (using iFile)

This step requires iFile app from Cydia.

  1. Download .deb file from Safari browser on iPhone. In this example, I’m trying to install .deb file of iTheme cydia app.
  2. Once finished, still in Safari app, tap Open in “iFile”
    safari download .deb file ios
  3. iFile app will be launched automatically, and you should see .deb file(s) you just downloaded.
    .deb files install manually
  4. Stil in iFile app, select .deb file you want to install and tap Installer
Install .deb file iFile Installer iPhone
  5. iFile will be installing .deb file on iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch automatically.
Make sure that it says Finished with Result Code: 0 which means you have successfully installed .deb file.
    install .deb file manually iFile
  6. Tap Done.

Now, you have finished install .deb file on your iOS iPhone/iPad/iPod. If the iFile says dpkg error dependency problems (in most cases), it means you need to install another .deb file package before installing the .deb package you were trying to install. Other than result code 0 means the .deb file is not successfully installed. Read the error details and fix it.

You should see the app on your Homescreen or inside Cydia app, depend on the .deb file you installed. In this case, I was installing .deb file of ThemeIt app as you can see on my Homescreen below.

Since iFile app is premium cydia apps, you may don’t like to pay for it, not everyone having this app.

Follow the guide below to install .deb file on computer. This guide can be done on any iOS version, whether it’s iOS 3.x, iOS 4.x, iOS 5 or even iOS 6, as long as your iOS has been jailbroken, you can do this. You can do this on either Windows or Mac computer.

Install .deb file guide on Computer (using iFunBox/DiskAid/Cyberduck/iPhone Explorer)

This step requires iFunBox/DiskAid/Cyberduck/iPhone Explorer software to be installed on your computer. I recommend iFunBox since it’s available for both Windows and Mac and you can easily use it.

I assume you will be using iFunBox software to perform .deb file installation.

  1. Open iFunBox
  2. Click Raw File System from the left menu then navigate to /var/root/Media (if you’re unable to find this directory, you should install afc2add tweak from Cydia)

    Navigate /var/root/Media iFunBox

  3. Still in iFunBox software, click New Folder on toolbar menu on the top and name the new folder as Cydia.
  4. Go into Cydia folder, and create new folder again by clicking New Folder menu and name it as AutoInstall.
  5. Go into AutoInstall folder. Click Copy From PC on toolbar menu.
Select .deb file you want to install and click Open.

    Transfer .deb files using iFunBox

Once iFunBox finished transferring the file, click Refresh on toolbar menu to make sure the file(s) is there and you may close iFunBox.

  6. Now, power off your iPhone|iPad|iPod Touch and turn back on. The .deb file should be installed when the device start-up.

You just finished installing .deb file on iPhone/iPad/iPod.

You should see the app on your Homescreen or inside Cydia app, depend on the .deb file you installed. In this case, I was installing .deb file of ThemeIt app as you can see on my Homescreen below.
