iOS 5.1 Coming Soon, Do NOT Update!
January 3, 2012 in iPhone Miscellaneous by
If you jailbreak your iDevice, then updating to the latest firmware can be a bad thing. If you do, chances are the jailbreak for it didn’t come out yet for the new software version. And since Apple recently made it so that you can NOT downgrade, there is no going back.
iOS 5.1 beta 2 expires on January 14, so expect the final version to come out at around that time. And even though Apple might want you to update when you sync your device into iTunes or for an OTA (over-the-air) update, just avoid it, until there is confirmation that the iOS 5.1 jailbreak comes out. It really isn’t worth it to update and then lose all your Cydia stuff, even if a jailbreak comes out for it, since it isn;t a huge upgrade like iOS 6. All it just might do is patch the jailbreak exploit found in 5.0.1. Even though there are no new known features in iOS 5.1 that are not found in 5.0.1, we will keep you posted in case!
