The iPad 3 features a new SoC, the A5X. Like the preceding A5, it features a dual-core A9 ARM processor clocked at 1 GHz while the iPhone 5 features a custom-built A6 chip, which is 22 percent smaller than the A5 and A5X chips found in the iPad 2, iPad 3, Apple TV 2 and iPhone 4S, but the processor runs twice as fast and has twice the graphic performance.
Better yet, the A6 chip is much more power-efficient than the A5, and contains 1GB of RAM, which gives a major boost to performance of iPhone 5.
CPU: A6 (2 CPU cores @1Ghz, 3 GPU cores @ ~270Mhz)
