How to Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 on Pre-A5 Devices

A TETHERED Jailbreak is now available for iOS 6.0.1! Currently, this Jailbreak ONLY works on Pre-A5 devices. This only meaning those with an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, & iPod touch 4th Generation can take advantage of this TETHERED Jailbreak.

What you will need:
- Pre-A5 device [iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4th Gen]
- iOS 6.0.1 Installed on your iDevice
- iOS 6.0 **Download here: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ **
- Redsn0w 0.9.15b3

Step 1: Download iOS 6
iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4
iPod touch 4th Generation

Step 2: Download the latest version of the Jailbreak tool Redsn0w 0.9.13dev4 from the iPhoneDev Team [Windows / Mac]

Step 3: Extract the contents of the downloaded compressed file and save it to a familiar location on your PC or Mac.

Step 4: Run the executable Redsn0w file, making sure to run in administrator mode if using a Windows based machine. If you are on Mac OS X, simply open up Redsn0w

Step 5: Select the Extras option from the main menu of the Redsn0w and select Select IPSW and point it to your downloaded iOS 6 IPSW/firmware.

Step 6: Go back and select Jailbreak.

**Due to this being a TETHERED Jailbreak, the following Steps 7-9 will need to be done each time your battery dies or you must restart your iDevice**

Step 7: When the Jailbreak is processed, go back into Redsn0w and select Extras.

Step 8: Put your iDevice into DFU mode [Simultaneously hold Home/Power button for 10 seconds. Let go of Power while STILL holding Home button for another 7-8 seconds]

Step 9: Once put into DFU mode, click on Just Boot.

These next steps will install Cydia on to your iDevice

To install cydia, follow the steps below:
The following steps to install Cydia is done using Terminal on Mac. You can use the same commands on Windows using a SSH program like WinSCP.

Step 10: Make sure your device is connected to your PC or Mac. Start Terminal on Mac and type:

ssh root@<IP address of your device goes here>

Step 11: It will now prompt you to enter the root password. Type: alpine

Step 12: Once done, type:

wget -q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://downloads.kr1sis.net/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && /tmp/cyinstall.sh

After Terminal & Cydia do its thing, your device will reboot and then you will now see Cydia on your homescreen!

JAILBREAK SUCCEEDED!
