Nokia Lumia Icon announced by Verizon

There was need of a 5 inch device by Nokia with all the specifications which is seen in the 6 incher of Nokia Lumia 1520 because 5 inch is currently the most attractive size of display consumers are looking out for.

Finally, it is announced by Verizon in USA. Nokia’s announcing its newest model, the Lumia Icon, today. This one’s exclusive to Verizon, where it’ll go on sale on February 20 for $200 on a two-year contract, the going rate for a well-appointed smartphone. It has a very crisp display and since it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor with 2GB RAM, it is butter smooth. The Icon has a 2,240 mAh battery, but the initial battery life estimates remains unknown.

The Icon is the latest Windows Phone to include a 1080p full HD display. It measures 5.0 inches on the diagonal, which puts the Icon on even ground with competing smartphones such as the HTC One, the LG G2, and the Samsung Galaxy S4. Its OLED panel uses Nokia’s ClearBlack technology to improve contrast and outdoor viewability and protected by Gorilla Glass 3 screen.

Verizon Wireless has prices it attractive starting with $199.99 with 2 year contract. It has all the features one can demand for this price, and with Nokia being sold to Microsoft, things are getting improve and there is more integration of Microsoft Applications exclusively for Nokia Devices. However, although the Windows Phone’s selection of apps is improving, but it’s still a distant third place to Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android mobile operating systems.

Other features include 4G LTE connectivity, a 2,420mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and wireless charging but above all else, the smartphone’s rear PureView camera may be the deciding factor for many buyers. The Icon features a 20-megapixel sensor with optical stabilization, an f/2.4 Zeiss lens and two LED flashes. Four microphones are said to capture top-quality audio when recording 1080p videos at 30 frames per second. Nokia Lumia Icon will also support LTE in USA.
