Sparrow email app for iPhone which released on March 2012 is one of the first third-party email apps in the App Store.
Sparrow keeps getting criticized for its lack of features, though it has received a lot of reward because of its User interface.
A cydia tweak called Sparrow Push helps Sparrow to be a better email app for iPhone by adding push notifications support, but still there was no pop email support. However through today’s update, now iPhone users now can download Sparrow 1.3 which can handle POP email accounts.
Which means that you are now able to set up Hotmail, Yahoo and other popular POP accounts (for instance, Comcast Cable accounts are POP) in the Sparrow app, bringing the client up to snuff with its desktop counterpart.
Yet, clearly lacking from Sparrow’s list of functions is support for push notifications, but the developers formerly said it’s coming in a future update. Though you can get it by installing Sparrow Push from Cydia, but lots of iPhone users denied to jailbreak their iPhone for some reasons. The Sparrow developer team is also taking care of Sparrow for iPad.
But perhaps the addition of POP support this time around is enough to convert you to a believer. And if that’s the case, you can find Sparrow in the App Store for $2.99.
